A lovely half day out. We enjoyed the audio tour and found it extremely interesting, but don't do this on a wet day as it's all outside.

St Augustine's Abbey was a Benedictine monastery, founded in 598 and functioning as a monastery until its dissolution in 1538 during the English Reformation. A great way to spend an afternoon, walking around the ruins with the audio tour.

St. Augustine's Abbey, an English Heritage property located just outside the city walls, is home to the remains of the abbey founded by St. Augustine in 597.
