茅葺き屋根の古い農家がたくさん残されている集落です。内部を見学できる家もあります。雪が積もる冬にもライトアップなどのイベントがあり、絶景が楽しめます。当家から車で６０分です。

You can see lots of thatched roof house. The view of this village is breathtaking. It takes around 30mins to go to this village from the cottage.

美山町を代表する観光スポット「かやぶきの里」美山町内には数多くのかやぶき民家が現存していますがその中でも、「北」集落には50戸のうち39棟がかやぶきの屋根で、伝統的技法による建築物群を含めた歴史的景観の保存度への評価も高く、平成5年（1993年）12月に国の重要伝統的建造物群保存地区に選定 Miyama (美山) is a remote, rural area in the mountains 30 kilometers north of central Kyoto. The area is famous for its traditional, thatched roof (kayabuki) farmhouses of which over 200 can be seen dotting the countryside. By train and bus via Hiyoshi Station Take a local or rapid train along the JR Sagano Line (Sanin Line) from Kyoto to Hiyoshi Station (about 45 minutes, 760 yen, fully covered by the Japan Rail Pass).
