You have what will be your own private, easy, flat walk/hike just a few minutes walk from the church. The interpretive center has some of the best preserved parts of the old D&H Canal used in the 1800’s prior to the railroad. Coal barges were dragged by horses. Not easy, huh? You can walk from the church to the center (a state park) in about 10 minutes along Minister’s Flats Road and 209 for a couple hundred feet. The. You can walk the canal for miles, if you like. It’s extremely peaceful, relatively easy for most folks to walk along, with ever-changing scenery.

Historic remains of the former Delaware & Hudson Canal including a lock and waste weir. Explore the life on the canal. Learn about the lock system and enjoy the historic features of the site. Hike along the canal towpath from Summitville to Wurtsboro. Occasional special events. Bookstore and restrooms in the Interpretive Center. Modern Interpretive bldg.
