The Sörmland trail is a 1000 km long hiking trail throughout the county with marked trail stages in and around Gnesta.

Etapp means 'section' & there are other better sections than this (nothing else came up in the search!)... Stage 16 up around Skottvångs Gruva (a disused copper mine, now a restaurant with a good buffet lunch & tourist attraction) is where Sweden's crown princess Madeleine was taken walking when on her tour of every region in Sweden. It can be quite busy on warmer days or holidays as there are lots of 'beaches' and grill spots with provided wood... A more exciting walk with kids as there is ice cream at start & finish, fun places to throw stones in the water or clamber on wind-fallen trees, watch canoeists pass by & bring something good (& a lighter, knife & paper!) to grill when there isn't an 'eld forbud' (forbidden to make fire) as there often is in July/August......check www.gnesta.se for fire status. www.sormlandsleden.se will give you some info in Swedish & English but to see the maps properly, you will have to login with my details...

Det bästa med Sörmlandsleden är naturen. Vi går oftast inte hela etapper då det inte finns en rundtur i området måste man gå tillbaka samma stig hem. Ibland har man tur och kan arrangera en upphämtning vid slutet för skjuts tillbaka.
