The Helio Cafe

There’s a whole community of rad, amazing artists who play here. To enter, you go through a back alley. It’s a fairly intimate place with a singer-songwriter focus. On any given night there will often be seven or eight artists playing between its two stages. The last Monday of each month is something called Monday Monday Hootenanny, and if you’re around, you have to go. Lots of sidemen and session musicians like me get together and back different artists. Nine or ten artists will play three songs each, and it’s only five bucks to get in.
