I recommend wilder ranch for hiking. it's a short drive & small park fee but has some great walking options. Lower trail from parking lot goes down to historic farm -or- the cliff trail goes out along the ocean. Each are a moderate walk about 45mins.

North Side of Santa Cruz Wilder Ranch state park includes bluffs, beach, and old time buildings.
