The Old Point Bar is a favorite of locals and tourists alike. Movie and TV scenes have been filmed there. Attracts visitors and local regulars. Decent prices on booze. Doesn't serve food. Live music occasionally.

great neighbourhood bar in Algiers, just a short ferry ride from the French Quarter. Live music at weekends, friendly locals, a great place to hang out.

This is definitely a place to hang out with the locals. You'll meet some interesting characters (and possibly their pets), have some drinks and listen to great live music at night. It's also only a few blocks from where you're staying!

Hey go for a $2 ferry ride across the river. Algiers is Nola's second oldest neighborhood and it's fun and cheap to cross the river. Just don't stay past 10, you'll be stuck!!!
