A functioning aid to navigation on the Strait of Juan de Fuca, located on the Dungeness Spit in the Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge near Sequim, Clallam County, in the U.S. state of Washington. Beautiful, serene hike out to the lighthouse. If you come during 9-5 business hours there are tours of the lighthouse available and the volunteers are very friendly and informative. The tip of the spit is closed as a wildlife refuge so make sure to obey the posted signs if you go.

A 5 mile hike 1 way will bring you to the New Dungeness Lighthouse. Plan your trip with the tides and go during low tide!

A Historic lighthouse and a functioning navigation aid on the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Located on the Dungeness Spit in the Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge near Sequim. The Dungeness Spit is the longest natural sand spit in North America. The lighthouse is at the end of the spit and is a popular hike, but is an 11-mile round trip to reach it. Be sure to check the Tide Tables in advance and only attempt the hike at low tide. High tides require you to climb over driftwood logs and can add several hours to your trip. Be sure to wear suitable shoes and wear sunscreen during the summer. There is a $3 Refuge permit fee for a party of four adults payable at the Kiosk. Children under 16 are free. The Refuge closes at sunset, so be sure you plan accordingly.

you can walk boat or kayak to the light house and then take a tour of the museum. It was the first light house to be completed on th Straits of Juan de Fuca in 1857. Thewalk which starts in the Dungeness Wildlife Refuge is 5.1 miles and take about an hour and 40 minutes 1 way. You will be walking on the beach and will see lots of rocks, shells and other treasures.
