Beautiful views of New York State's highest cascading waterfall. Accessible from Rte 23a and Laurel House Rd off of North and South Lake Road.
The Falls are gorgeous and have been the subject of several Hudson River School paintings. A great trip if you have a whole day to explore.
One of the most popular hikes in the area, in part because everyone likes waterfalls, and in part because it’s a relatively short hike to a huge, 260-foot payoff, divided over two drops.
Katerskill falls is a wonderful hiking trail surrounding a beautiful 3 tier waterfall! I love swimming at the base of the falls in the summer and often enjoy the serenity nature has to offer while hiking the trails in the spring and fall!
“A bit further than Windham Mountain, Hunter Mountain has skiing for all levels and some rather astounding views of the Catskill Mountain Range. ”
“40 Minutes Away. This is a bit of jaunt but my husband and I like to hike Peekamouse Mountain (it's right by the blue hole and the drive is incredible) and then head over to Phoenica Diner for lunch and then do grocery shopping in Woodstock. The food is solid basics but is kind of a Brooklyn scene as of late (which is totally fine by me but some people get annoyed by Brooklyn-ization of upstate).”
“Windham Mountain has great skiing and a summer downhill biking experience as well. ”
“Town Tinker Tube Rental has been a favorite summertime activity in Phoenicia for over 30 years. Check it out and you’ll see why. Heads up: it’s not a lazy river.”
