A passion project, Glenwhan has been developed over the last few decades and is a gorgeous gem of a garden. Great tea room too. With plants for sale, an all round great day out!

Located in Dunragit only 10 minutes drive form the cottage with wonderful views. Lovely woodland garden. Lots of lovely things to see or a nice place to sit and have a picnic.

Another beautiful outing is to visit these gardens and take your time to soak in the distant coastline. On a clear day you will enjoy views all the way down Luce Bay, New England Bay, onto Drummore and the Mull of Galloway. Visit the viewing points, find the serene Buddha, make a wish and try to spot some dragonflys. Tearoom with tables indoors and out tops off the visit with delish cakes and traybakes.

Glenwhan Gardens has been described as one of the most beautiful newly made gardens in Scotland, with unique & stunning sea views across to the Isle of Man, Luce Bay, and the Mull of Galloway. Hewn from rough moorland 40 years ago. With the warming influence of the Gulf Stream, Glenwhan grows many tender plants from around the Southern Hemisphere, together with large collections of rare trees and shrubs. A numbered tree trail for the dendrologist has been collated, along with a 17-acre moorland walk with 120 species of wildflowers, grasses, and ferns. Two small lakes (Lochans) are the focal point of these family-run gardens, with seats and meandering paths running along enchanting walks with interesting sculptures, which the visitor will discover.

Carved out of native moorland to become a beautiful garden with ponds, unusual plants, walks out into the moors, a tea room and cafe, great venue, enjoy!
