The swimming hole at Hurricane Creek park is a local's favorite in the spring and summer. It's a little bit off the beaten path, but worth the short 15 minute drive. The creek water stays cool and clear, and great hiking trails wind through the woods along both banks.

Hurricane Creek is the boundary between the Appalachian and coastal terrain. It has a deep history and is amazing. There are several thigh-burning hiking trails. (7.4 miles)
