なにわ情緒漂う静かな法善寺横丁。 その法善寺の境内にある不動明王像は、水掛不動さんと呼び親しまれている。 古くから商売繁盛、恋愛成就などを祈願して多くの参拝客が連日、水を掛けて願いごとをするため、今や全身はびっしりと苔に覆われており、元の姿を拝むことはできない。

法善寺は今から400年ほど前に建立された歴史ある寺院です。一年を通して様々なイベントが開かれており、節分には豆まき、毎月28日には開運厄除け、商売繁盛、交通安全などを願って法要が行われています。 また、法善寺の北側には「法善寺横丁」と呼ばれる細い路地があり、小料理屋やバーがひしめきあっているので、食事をするのもオススメです。

The Hozenji temple is a relatively new religious building founded by a monk in 1637. Most of the buildings were lost in the Second World War and now only two buildings remain. This quiet, tranquil area is situated in the busy downtown area of Osaka. Visit the temple to see the Fudo Myoo, a deity taking the form of fury and who is said to protect people against evil, conquer all demons and grant all wishes. People used to splash water as an offering to the deity and pray for their prosperity. Because of the large amount of water splashed onto it, the statue has grown a large amount of moss.
