Be careful when booking a surfing lesson in Byron Bay because not all surfing schools have licenses to operate here. Instead, they take students to Ballina which is 40 minutes away. Not cool when the surf here is magnificent. Girlfriends and I have had lessons with Gaz and he's great. Groups are small and everyone in our class managed to get up on a wave. It was so exhilarating.
