Hoan Kiem Lake is a natural body of water located in the Old Quarter, close to Hanoi's city center. One of the city’s most notable landmarks, the lake is a great place to get a glimpse of the city’s rich and diverse culture. From early in the morning, when joggers crisscross the shores to the afternoon when seniors settle down on the park benches to play chess, the area is a hive of activity. Amidst it all, the lake’s tranquil waters serve as a charming backdrop to the quaint and serene character of Hanoi culture.

The streets around the lake are free of traffic every evening on weekends. Street performances, artists and musicians are gathered together and the people around you are celebrating.
Hoan Kiem Lake is a great destination in Hanoi, there are so many good things to say about this place. I just want you to know that the place is "Kilometer Zero" of Vietnam. It only takes about 5 minutes to walk (450m), you are already there. Enjoy it any time of the day. In the weekend, Hoan Kiem Lake & its adjacent areas transform into pedestrian zones. P/S: Run around the lake early in the morning if you like to practice and have running shoes.

Hoan Kiem Lake (Turtle Lake) is a central feature of Hanoi and is a popular hangout spot throughout the day with locals and tourists. Ngoc Son Temple sits on a small island in the center of the lake and linked by a bridge, makes a beautiful background for a few photos. Around sunrise and sunset, this area becomes especially busy with joggers, couples enjoying the relaxing views across the lake, and the elderly practicing Tai Chi and line dancing. Hoan Kiem Lake is free of charge, but there’s a fee of VND 20,000 to visit Ngoc Son Temple, which sits on a small island in the center of the lake Location: Hanoi Old Quarter
