It a ferry 10 minutes away out of Davis, NC that can take you to a less traveled part of Cape Lookout National Seashore, the South Core Banks. This remote part of the island has camping cabins run by park service. It is more remote and is a great place to explore. The ferry is one of 3 that can bring your car (off road permit required) or you can go over and walk around. Bring water and food, and whatever you need for the day as there is no services once you are there. The ferry does have a store and tackle shop on the mainland which has tackle and other food items.

The small town of Davis has two ferry services, almost side by side, running from Davis to Core Banks. This newer ferry sometimes has later hours for return, so be sure to check both for your preferred times.
