Best, nearest and most economical local skiing and snowboarding. Best bargain for cheaper lift tickets is to get your rentals from Potter Brothers on the way to the mountain.
Good Catskill ski area. Probably 45-60 minutes away. If you have the time and want to mix it up it’s worth the drive.
Great spot to ski with the kids. Very family friendly and some great runs! In the summer, there is a wonderful lake for swimming.
I like Belleayre. Nice mountain. Has a gondola. About 40 minutes away if you’re looking to explore a little.
“Popular regular weekender hangouts and the food can be hit or miss. It's outstanding when it hits but very disappointing when it misses. $$$”
“The locals mountain! This small, family run ski resort is delightful, great runs and has a great bar/ bistro”
“40 Minutes Away. This is a bit of jaunt but my husband and I like to hike Peekamouse Mountain (it's right by the blue hole and the drive is incredible) and then head over to Phoenica Diner for lunch and then do grocery shopping in Woodstock. The food is solid basics but is kind of a Brooklyn scene as of late (which is totally fine by me but some people get annoyed by Brooklyn-ization of upstate).”
“Great spot to try local spirits. Make sure to try the maple spirit. They also have a kids room full of game :)”
“fabulous food, great atmosphere and plenty of drink choices. they have deck seating in the summer, woodstove fires up in the winter. This place is always busy so plan your visit in off peak times.”
