Horton Plains National Park is a protected area in the central highlands of Sri Lanka and is covered by montane grassland and cloud forest. This plateau at an altitude of 2,100–2,300 metres (6,900–7,500 ft) is rich in biodiversity and many species found here are endemic to the region. This region was designated a national park in 1988. It is also a popular tourist destination and is situated 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) from Ohiya, 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) from the world famous Ohiya Gap/Dondra Watch and 32 kilometres (20 mi) from Nuwara Eliya. The Horton Plains are the headwaters of three major Sri Lankan rivers, the Mahaweli, Kelani, and Walawe. In Sinhala the plains are known as Maha Eliya Plains

World's End is located within the Horton Plains National Park in Nuwara Eliya District, Sri Lanka. It is a sheer cliff, with a drop of about 4,000 feet (1,200 m).[1] It is one of the most visited parts of the Park, and a key tourist attraction in the Nuwara Eliya District and the country at large.[2][3]

The roof of Sri Lanka. High altitude Plateau. Worlds end is located in the Horton Plains. Horton Plains have different type an endemic flora and fauna. Is home to Sri Lankan Elk. Occasional Leopards(very rare). Some 150 years ago was home to high altitude elephant herds. But currently, elephants no longer live in this park. All of them were driven to extinction by British hunters during the period Sri Lanka was colony of the British empire.
