Certaldo is a little off the usual tour routes, so its charming historic center is refreshingly free of tourists and tourist traps. Its claim to fame is that the author of the Decameron, Giovanni Boccaccio, lived and died there.

Amazing village! If you go there visit the high part of the village and the Boccaccio Palace which is also the civic museum of the town! Certaldo is different from all the other villages and it's still not too much touristic!

Certaldo is just 6 km away from our villa. Here you'll find every kind of services and shops! However we highly recommend to visit Certaldo! Especially the high part of the town that you can reach by funicular from the downtown. Also you can drive few km in the countryside around the village and park your car upstair just outside of the ancient walls of "Certaldo Alto". In Certaldo Alto there is an atmosphere which is different from all the other villages! Its amazing! Don't miss a visit inside the Boccaccio Palace (which was mansion of the Decameron's writer... Giovanni Boccaccio!), Palazzo Pretorio and Museo di Arte Sacra!
