The Katy Trail runs just north of Jefferson City, great for walking and biking. There are bike rentals available (google katy trail bike rental). This is one of the closest access points.

In town for some biking? Check out the MKT Trail! Connecting Machens, MO to Clinton, MO just outside St Louis, a portion of this grand trail runs right through Jefferson City! The trailhead is located just north of the Missouri River.
