One of the most spectacular day trips you can take is to Silver Falls State Park. About a 2 Hour drive from Eugene it’s a great day trip but be sure to bring a lunch and good hiking boots. Getting an early start is highly recommended as this park is quite popular. There are several easy hikes to see the north or south falls and then longer and more strenuous ones that you can take to see the whole loop and 10 spectacular waterfalls. There is ample parking near south falls and a much smaller lot near north falls.

Beautiful anytime of year. There is a parking fee most of the year. Silver Falls State Park is a state park in the U.S. state of Oregon, located near Silverton, about 20 miles east-southeast of Salem. It is the largest state park in Oregon with an area of more than 9,000 acres, and it includes more than 24 miles of walking trails, 14 miles of horse trails, and a 4-mile bike path.
