Kilfebon makes tarts using seasonal fruits harvested in spring, summer, autumn and winter. The fruits of any season are attractive to each other, and when you look at the harvested fruits, it's exciting just to imagine, "How delicious would it be if you put this into a cake!" Kirufebon is not a Kyoto institution per se, but for me at least it has the best cakes in all of Kyoto. The line to sit in their cafe can be about two hours. I always get it takeaway and it's usually the cake store of choice when it's someone's birthday. It is located on Kiyamachi, next to the canal on the west side, just one short block north of Sanjo.
