The Pergola is decidedly one of the most romantic hidden spaces in North London on the other side of Hampstead Heath. From within it is impossible to see or hear London and feels out in the countryside.

Thousands wander across Hampstead Heath's wild and undulating parkland every year, but very few discover this eerie and elegant pocket of faded grandeur on the West Heath. Built by Lord Leverhulme at the start of the twentieth century as a setting for his extravagant parties, it includes impressive gardens and a dramatic elevated walkway, where overhanging plants create a lush canopy and tangled roots twist around smooth stone columns. A must-see place to visit in the Golders Green area, the enchanted Hill Garden and Pergola, a hidden treasure in the middle of a woodland and only a short walk away from your accommodation. A truly magical place that was once owned by Lord Leverhulme, who built the Pergola as his legacy. Sadly since his death the Pergola has been losing its grandeur and today it resembles 'an ageing skeleton in the middle of a secret garden'. Spring and summer are magical times with spectacular display of colours of the vine other exotic plants that grow over the raised old walkway that runs through the beautiful garden below.
