If you're looking for a Hike close to Queenstown, go no further than the Ben Lomond trail. The track can take you from Fernhill (from the end of the street the house is on) to a stunning vista looking over the Whakatipu basin.

The whole area is a dark-sky reserve so star gazing is exceptional on a cloudless night, even better if you go to the observatory!
