A gem in the heart of Athens, that everyone should visit! This museum sits directly over some of the excavated surrounding villages of the Acropolis. Many beautiful artifacts are displayed plus this is the museum for many original pieces from the Acropolis too. Its a great resource which is extremely well presented as it gives a very tangible way of seeing the actual reliefs of the Parthenon spacially presented and up close including copies of the Elgin Marbles in the British Museum. Inside you’ll have breathtaking viewpoints from 360 windows. It’s one of most modern museum I’ve ever seen!
There’s also a bar inside with a pretty big balcony and of course with a surprising view!

A hidden gem. Wonderful displays, excellent in all respects. Lots of examples of ancient Greek pottery and statues. Be sure to take rooms in order but leave energy and time for later rooms on upper floors.. they are the best.

Amazing historic place where the first modern Olympics were held. It's wonderful stadium, very old and the only one made totally of marble! Huge history and very interesting fact that it's still been used for festivals, the final step of the Marathon run. Awesome. So if you want to try to run on this stadium, you can do it ( about 5 euro for this opportunity).

The best view of Athens. Once the sun goes down definitely the best view in all of Athens with the lights of the city stretching out in all directions.

Fantastic place to go for a walk. It’s got many things to see and I keep discovering more every time I go back. It’s a nice escape from the busy streets of Athens. It’s also really central so it’s an easy one to visit and explore. If you go, go look for the goldfish pond. Its a lovely surprise.

National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. A very nice place to pass by and feel like you are walking in ancient Greece! Remember to check the statues on the front pediment of all the gods at the University of Athens building.

This is the former Royal Palace. Every hour you can admire the change of the guards which remains always spectacular because the soldiers even cross the street and the traffic stops. Very nice and noble area with different embassies around and with the National Garden in the front.

The Maximus Mansion has been the official residence of the Greek Prime Minister since 1982. It is located in the center of Athens, Greece, near Syntagma Square. The building houses the offices of the head of the Greek government, but this is not the residence of the prime minister.

In front of to the building you may be interested in watching the changing of guards at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier. It happens routinely every hour daily. The full Changing of the Guard ceremony takes place at 11am on Sunday so be there early.
Opposite the Old Palace is Syntagma (= Constitution) Square, an attractive public space/ garden that has a lovely fountain and plenty resting places in the shade of some very tall trees. It is a retreat from the surrounding busy roads. If you travel to the Square by the metro, don't miss the sculptures inside the station.
