Braunton is a large village or small town. It does have a large number of places to eat, takeaways through to winebars, pubs, and cafes. It has a relaxed easy feel and offers bike hire for the Tarka Trail which runs through it. It has a Tesco Supermarket, as well as local independent food shops and home shops. Braunton also has a small Pump/BMX track for children.

Barnstaple is a Historic Town built on the River Taw. It has a covered Pannier Market every day except Monday and a high street of local shops. It has a large park, Rock Park, with football pitches and scateboard/scooter facilities.
