Once a river port Barnstable is now a thriving town with a market, shopping centre, theatre, cinema and leisure centre. Offering much more than just your high street chains the town prides itself on its independent shops, local produce and colourful history. Voted one of the top 10 food markets in the UK the historic Pannier Market is definitely worth a visit. Operating six days a week throughout most of the year it offers a huge range of exciting fresh produce, handmade arts and crafts plus a fantastic range of antiques and collectables. When it comes to eating out you’ll be spoilt for choice as the town is bursting with fantastic independent restaurants. Whether you prefer Thai, Chinese, Indian, Italian, Spanish or simply a good old British classic you’ll find it in Barnstaple. If you like something a bit different then be sure to check out the regular street food markets that take place around the town. On the outskirts of Barnstaple, you will find several retail parks with all the big-name supermarkets, petrol stations and fast food outlets!

Barnstable is 20 minute drive away and it the largest town nearby. There a number of retail parks with Sainsbury's, Tesco's and Asda as well as a number of fast food outlets.

25 minute drive from accommodation. Barnstaple is a provincial town offering a good mix of high street and local shops. With various bars and cafes.It has a good cinema.

Barnstaple is a Historic Town built on the River Taw. It has a covered Pannier Market every day except Monday and a high street of local shops. It has a large park, Rock Park, with football pitches and scateboard/scooter facilities.
