I go to O'Neil Regional Park frequently to camp. It's only $20.00 per night. However, you can also go there for the day. I believe the day rate is $5.00 or so. There are many easy to moderate trails to hike. Even though it is very close to everything, it seems like you are in the boonies. At the front entrance there is a Ranger Station, where you can get maps and information about hiking and the general area. You also are down the street from Cook's Corner. It is less than 3 miles away.
