In Vanier Park near Burrard Bridge, the Museum of Vancouver is a large institution devoted to all things Vancouver. It covers the city history from the first Coast Salish communities to Japantown, Kitsilano hippie days, and urban development. Other worthwhile museums and centers are within a short walk, including the HR MacMillan Space Centre with its planetarium, an observatory, and the waterfront Maritime Museum, where splendid views capture English Bay with the North Shore mountains beyond.

If you like history and artifacts the Museum of Vancouver ("MOV") is worth checking out. There is a lot of First Nations historical pieces to see and the museum showcases the City of Vancouver throughout the 1920s - 1960s! If nothing else, the MOV building itself is worth checking out for its architectural beauty.

Beautiful small museum on the water at Kits beach. Great location and gift shop and easy to get to and learn about Vancouver

Vancouver history! Not too large. Great area to walk around, walk from Granville Island to Kitsilano Beach!
