A classic and must-eat Detroit style pizzeria. Make sure you go to the original Detroit location and not the suburban spots. ;)
Classic Detroit-style pizza (look it up, it's a real thing). This is the place where it all began. Old school vibe, delicious pizza, and a bar!
“There was a lot of buzz when this bookstore opened in 2015 as part of the revitalization of Grandmont Rosedale, a beautiful old neighborhood. There’s something very civilized about it. It has restored wooden floors, beautiful carpets, a big fluffy cat who’ll sit on your books, and tables where people can sit and talk and read. The Turner House, a novel that was shortlisted for the National Book Award, about a Detroit family. It really took the hearts of Detroiters in particular, and Angela Flournoy, the author, came to Pages to read from it.”
“What a quaint space to have a hot cup of coffee or steeped mug of warm tea. They stay true to their motto: A stress free coffee and baked goods experience.”
“This is a little neighborhood bar, maybe 3 train cars wide, and every first and third Tuesday they have open mic night. They have their wine and whatnot and it's new comics and medium-level comics going up and doing their material at different stages—developing it. It's a live scene. The third Thursday of the month, Jeff Horste and Esther Nevarez host the Jester Comedy Show here. When they do, there are drink specials from 8 to 10 p.m.”
“Speakeasy. Great cozy basement bar. Phenomenal drinks and bartenders that know their stuff. + they show a movie with themed drinks 9pm every Sunday.”
“Great pizza spot with probably one of Detroit's best local beers, Ghettoblaster. In the Midtown area so lots of walkable places to check out from here. The Shinola Store is right next door.”
