Amazing castle that can only be reached by boat . Beware of paying the Ferryman ! Threave Castle gardens are also well worth a visit.

Take a visit to Threave Castle, set on an island you ring the bell on arrival and a boat will arrive to transport you across. Includes some lovely walks and wildlife spotting around the estate. Make sure you visit the Osprey viewing platform to see these magnificent birds.

Situated on its own island in the River Dee, Threave Castle is only reachable via boat. Begin your journey at Kelton Mains Farm just off the A75 outside Castle Douglas. Lovely walk through fields and woods until you arrive at jetty. Approximately 13 miles from Barnbarroch Lodge.
