Amazing castle that can only be reached by boat . Beware of paying the Ferryman ! Threave Castle gardens are also well worth a visit.
Fortification situated on an island in the River Dee that kept James II's forces at bay. Take a boat ride over and visit the Castle. There are also Osprey nest's in the area that can be viewed at certain times of the year.
Take a visit to Threave Castle, set on an island you ring the bell on arrival and a boat will arrive to transport you across. Includes some lovely walks and wildlife spotting around the estate. Make sure you visit the Osprey viewing platform to see these magnificent birds.
Excellent location, it is an ancient Castle situated on an island in a river. Access is by boat and is avaialble April to October for a small price. The photo shown is the interior of the Castle just above the dungean. The Dungeaon has a surprise for those who look carefully.
