The Imperial Centre for the Arts & Sciences housed inside the refurbished Imperial Tobacco factory and the old Braswell Memorial Library, holds a children’s museum, an art center, clay studio for artists, and an active community theater, all surrounded by sculpture gardens. Wander the building’s weathered wooden floors into the Maria V. Howard Art Center to an interactive exhibit for children and galleries featuring area artists with works in a variety of media. Through the end of the year, visit the Children’s Museum & Science Center exhibit called Leonardo’s Lab, a collection of hands-on activities inspired by artist and inventor da Vinci. And take time to sit under the starry dome of Cummins Planetarium to view seasonal skies.

The Imperial Centre offers some of the best things to do in Rocky Mount in one place. For starters, the Community Theatre is where you can enjoy a show and get involved! There’s also a hands-on science museum for kids. Your little ones will have a blast learning and exploring how the world works.
