Abdeen Palace Museum
Many items to see that belonged to the king Frouk and his royal family and how it was during the ruling class - 18th and 19th centuries
The park outside is some good place to check, though crowded most of the time but it's nice to have a jog there by morning if you're a sports person.
Abdeen Palace has a remarkable story. It is partially open to visitors as a military museum that also displays a rather tedious assortment of gifts to various Egyptian presidents.
“Good bookshop, entrance on Mohamed Mahmoud street. New opening hours: 9am-4pm.”
“Zawya is an awesome arts house cinema. Sometimes it shows famous movies (it usually shows the Oscar winners) and sometimes lesser known movies. They also have great Arabic movies, always with subtitles. Find them on Facebook for the current movie showings, or ask Amy because she goes all the time.”
“This is another "Take me back to 1960s Egypt!" spot and the decor is unchanged. It's a strange place, one that has vibe, ambience inside as if you are sitting in a garden. Try the feta or the molokhaya. Also, the stuffed artichokes with meat and béchamel is a good appetizer. Also located in downtown Cairo. ”
“Café and art space with regular concerts, dance workshops or others. They also serve snacks. Look for concerts on their facebook page. Meet the cool youth of Cairo.”
