It's an iconic and romantic, ruined castle surrounded by a moat; accessible by road but also by boat on the river Rother (from the Bodiam Boating Station) and also by steam on The Kent and East Sussex Railway (departing from their Tenterden, Rolvenden or Northiam stations).

You can get the steam train to Bodiam from the station a 5 minute walk from the lodge.
