The most Westerly major town in England - eat, dance, shop, swim in the iconic outdoor lido, take a direct train to Waterloo or a helicopter flight to the Scilly Isles… Penzance is truly unique. Just 15 minutes drive away.
Worth visiting Chapel St and Penlee House for paintings from the Newlyn School. The Jubilee Pool is a seawater lido with a hot section and great cafe.
Penzance is a great place to wander around. Lots of quirky/contemporary craft and vintage shops. Interesting art galleries. Good coffee places and cafés. You could spend a whole day here. I can recommend my favourite streets and shops. If you have transport, or if you're intrepid walkers, you can walk along the coast, past the Lido towards Newlyn and Mousehole.

The oldest part of Penzance is the quay. From here it extended up what is now Chapel Street which is rich in history and contains an eclectic mix of buildings and businesses. Most of the street dates back to the mid 18th century but there are a few reminders of the more distant past. The Admiral Benbow pub. Named after the 17th century Admiral John Benbow the pub is also famed for being in the opening scene of Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson.

Penzance is the most westerly major town in Cornwall. Situated in the shelter of Mount’s Bay the town faces south-east onto the English Channel, and is bordered by the fishing port of Newlyn. Along the seafront if one of the oldest Art Deco open-sea seawater swimming baths in the country. Definitely worth a visit together with the nearby Morrab Gardens known for its Mediterranean and sub tropical plants.
