The cafe where Russ & Daughters serves all their famous dishes and amazing food!
While take-out from the 1914 original on East Houston is an unparalleled New York City experience, the new, wonderfully turned-out, old-world café is about a ten minute walk from the mothership. We heartily recommend the classic open-face sandwich, the super heebster nosh with wasabi roe, and matzo…
The original Russ & Daughters is an over-100-year-old institution, but it had one major flaw: nowhere to sit. The newer nearby cafe has both seating and an extensive menu that adds eggs, platters, and even alcohol to the usual bagel and smoked salmon.
From a legendary appetizing shop comes this retro, full-service outpost serving Jewish comfort food.
Favorite spot for delicious smoked fish, bagels, schemer, and motza ball soup!
“Chef duo Jeremiah Stone and Fabian von Hauske Valtierra of Contra opened a more casual wine-bar-meets-restaurant spot on Orchard Street which has proven to be an LES standout. All of the seating is at high-top, communal tables, and it's walk-in only. The wine list is first-rate, but this isn't just a spot for drinks, so come hungry and attempt to order as many of the very shareable plates as you can.”
“Probably the best Pastrami Sandwich you will ever find! When Sally meet Harry Movie place!”
“Great breakfast/brunch spot. Share the pancakes and order main courses. Ask for their homemade raspberry jam! ”
“Greek restaurant camouflaged as a Chinse restaurant on Canal St. They only talk walk-ins, suggest going early as it is busy every night of the week. PRO TIP: get the cheesecake. ”
