For the art lovers! A beautiful art museum to spend some time at in Downtown Austin.
In January 2015, Ellsworth Kelly gifted the Blanton a design concept for his most monumental work: the first and only building the artist designed, as well as the last project before his death in December 2015. The stained glass in this building is super cool! One of Austin’s better museums.
Great art space with easy parking at the UT campus and directly across the street from the Bullock Texas History Museum.
Located on University of Texas campus; prides itself on quality of rotating exhibits and permanent installations.
Our local fine & modern art museum. Right across the street from the Bullock TX museum.
“This attraction will help you check the required museum off your to-do list. It's also close to Univ of Texas (across the street) which is excellent for people watching.”
“The pink-granite building is the centerpiece of downtown Austin, perched on a hill at 12th Street and Congress Avenue. Free guided tours are held daily, starting in the South Foyer, but brochures are also available on the first floor for self-guided tours. The Texas Legislature meets every two years, so you’ll have to check the schedule if you want to see an actual session in progress.”
“Located in Zilker Park, this is one of the largest natural pools. Very cheap $5-$10 entrance fee.”
“Climb some stairs for a top view of the river and some fancy houses and pictures!”
Outdoor Event Space
“Zilker Park is where ACL happens, where a great Zilker Christmas Light Show is, where the Stevie Ray Vaughn bronze is. Close enough to Casa Willow and Holly Neighborhood. Google what is happening at Zilker when you come.”
