HAVE YOU SEEN A GIRAFFE TODAY? The museum was opened to public in 2004. The Hunting- Wildlife Museum is the only museum in Iceland that is dedicated to hunting and wildlife. The museum is not only established to entertain and inform the public but as a testament to ethical hunting, the right to hunt and to pass the skill of hunting on to future generations. The collection contains a large number of Icelandic mammals and birds as well as mammals from Africa and Greenland, including a shoulder mount of muskox, full mount polar bear, giraffe as well as full mount lions, male and a female. The collection is unique and should not be missed by anyone interested in wildlife and hunting.

Veiðisafnið er einstakt á landsvísu en hvergi á Íslandi er hægt að sjá jafn fjölbreytt úrval uppstoppaðra veiðidýra, skotvopna og veiðitengdra muna en hér ásamt því að fræðast um veiðidýr, skotvopn, veiðar og náttúruvernd. Uppsettning grunnsýningar safnsins er margrómuð en auk hennar eru settar upp sérsýningar og má þar nefna árlega byssusýningu og snertisafari – sýningu fyrir sjónskerta og blinda sem hefur verið haldin reglulega frá opnun safnsins. Hlutverk safnsins er m.a. að kynna komandi kynslóðum veiði og veiðirétt með aðaláherslu á náttúruvernd og skynsemisveiðar.
