Nestled in one of Edinburgh infamous Closes, this free museum celebrated the lives of three giants of Scottish Literature - Robert Burns, Sir Walter Scott and Robert Louis Stevenson. Home to portraits, rare books and personal objects including Burns' writing desk, Robert Louis Stevenson's riding boots, the printing press on which Scott's Waverley Novels were first produced and the rocking horse he used as a child!

Celebrate the lives of Scotland's greatest writers, Robert Burns, Sir Walter Scott and Robert Louis Stevenson at the architecturally enthralling Lady Stair's House built in 1622. At the Writers' Museum you can see Robert Burns' writing desk, the printing press on which Scott's Waverley novels were produced and many more. Upon leaving the museum be sure not to miss the quotations carved in stone celebrating Scottish writers.

The Writers’ Museum, housed in Lady Stair's House at the Lawnmarket, on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, presents the lives of three of the foremost Scottish writers: Robert Burns, Walter Scott and Robert Louis Stevenson. Run by the City of Edinburgh Council, the collection includes portraits, works and personal objects.

As a self admitted geek with a love of books, this is my favourite museum. It's really interesting and for those of you interested in famous Scottish writers such as Robert Louis Stevenson, it's definitely worth a look.
