Timberline Lodge and Ski Area
The drive, the views, the craftsmanship of the lodge... all make for a great visit! Snow tires or chairs required during winter months.
The Beautiful Iconic hand sculpted Lodge with year round skiing, amazing views and great food.
Most years you can ski or board all year long! Parts of "The Shinning" were filmed at the lodge. Lodge is nearly 6000' above sea level on the south side of Mt. Hood. Makes for a great and up close view of the mountain.
Beautiful historic lodge with stunning views of Mt. Hood. Walking/hiking and biking in the summer, downhill and cross-country skiing in the winter.
Wonderful ski area (longest ski season in the USA with skiing in the summer!) and a great bar. Little known fact: the lodge doubled as the exterior for Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining."
Drive up to the historic Timberline Lodge (where The Shining was filmed). Good skiing in the winter (although I prefer nearby Mt. Hood Meadows for more advances choices).
Family friendly hikes, amazing views, great food and bar, historical center, 25 minutes away.
Historic and beautiful, the majestic sights from the top of Mt. Hood at Timberline Lodge is unforgettable any time of the year. Delicious food, good bar, and good entertainment after a day of skiing and hiking on the mountain!
Beautiful views! Coffee, hiking, bike trails. Only about 50 minute drive from Colton.
“A favorite for skiing, this location has been operating since 1928 and had the lift terminal completely rebuilt in 2005, resulting in faster trips. Skibowl provides snow riders with some of the best terrain in the Mt. Hood National Forest, featuring 34 fully lit runs, 65 runs total and a vertical drop of 1,500 feet. With the most Black Diamond runs of any resort in state and two fully lit terrain parks, Skibowl draws accomplished snow riders as well as beginners and intermediate riders out for a great time.”
“Great for call in/ take out or for dine in. Great atmosphere, full bar, & excellent service. Food is top notch at a great price. AND -- an amazing backyard patio with corn hole games and live music! Excellent yard for the kids to play while enjoying a frosty beverage. ”
“Come early in the evening to avoid a wait, and in winter, sit by the fireplace if you can. In summer, the outdoor space if lovely. This place often has music and the BBQ is a must. ”
“No trip to Portland is complete without a trip to see this beautiful place in the Columbia Gorge. Check it out!”
“Explore the history of Government Camp, from early skis to the background of Henry Steiner cabins. This is definitely a must-see museum if you enjoy the history of American settlers in the Cascade range.”
