We are a community where racial and cultural connections are consciously uplifted, and a space for art, culture and politics to intentionally collide. A place to take a deliberate pause and feed your mind, body and soul. We believe that by creating such a space we can inspire social change.

Well loved by the locals. Great for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Vegan/Vegetarian options.
Busboys & Poets is so much more than a restaurant. Enjoy Poetry slams? Go to Busboys. Interested in partaking in community conversations surrounding social inequities? Go to Busboys. The food is good, but you get so much more here than a full stomach.
This is the original location with the U street vibes, best vegan / vegetarian friendly food in town. Usually busy
This is where I go to people watch, get some work done, or enjoy poetry slam. It's a DC institution with various events, open mic nights, restaurant and bar. 10 min walk.
“A must for any celebrity visiting the city, Ben’s Chili Bowl has been a DC staple since it opened on U Street in 1958. The half-smoke toting restaurant’s storefront is plenty Instagrammable on its own, but the famous Ben’s Chili Bowl mural – featuring distinguished African American trailblazers and celebrities – is iconic. The colorful wall honors the likes of Barack and Michelle Obama, Dave Chappelle, Prince and Harriet Tubman.”
“Branch of a veteran local chain supplying health-conscious, eco-friendly groceries & prepared foods.”
“Located on the corner of 14th and U, Lost Society stimulates your eyes, ears, and taste buds with menu brought to life by our Executive Chef Joseph Evens, Designed to evoke an underground, Victorian atmosphere, Lost Society consists of two levels. The first is our main dining room, which features décor vignettes that render each table’s dining experience unique. The second level is comprised of the lounge and roof deck. On this level you will find our DJ booth, an indoor and an outdoor bar, and a more laid back ambiance than in our downstairs dining room.”
“chill. heated outdoor area. TVs indoors. and another small dance floor area by the stairs. usually plays hip hop / top 40”
“Whether it’s North America’s longest cascading fountain or the vibrant drum circle that gathers every Sunday, there’s plenty to capture at Meridian Hill Park in Columbia Heights. The terrazzo walls will transport you (and your followers) from the nation’s capital to a European city with just one photograph!”
