The Laura plantation is one of my favorite plantation tours. It is the plantation where the stories of Brer Rabbit were conceived and it has a long history of female owners/caretakers. It's definitely one of the best I think.

Laura Plantation, 2247 LA-18, Vacherie. Open daily from 930am to 5pm. An 1805 sugarcane plantation with daily guided tours of the big house, the grounds & slave cabin. Laura has the most complete history of its residents & their lives; extremely authentic & true to history. www.lauraplantation.com

Laura Plantation offers a Creole Louisiana plantation and tells the story of how women owned and ran a plantation. It also offers a story of slavery life on a southern plantation.

In my opinion the ONLY plantation tour you need to do. The tour is rated one of the BEST in historical tours in the USA
