The moat area around the Imperial Palace—where the emperor lives—is like a wonderful green island in Tokyo. Each season brings about its own plant life and charm, from the autumn leaves to the spring cherry blossoms reflected in the water. You can circle the palace in a car or on foot to get a full view of all this wonder. I personally think the best time to come here is at night. As you go around the palace, the contrast of the dark imperial trees and the bright city lights behind it is exquisite.

天皇陛下が住む場所です。とても広い敷地に、松や桜などが植えられ、心の落ち着く場所です。芝生の上では、沢山の人が本を読んだり、寝そべったりしてくつろいでいます。皇居の周りは日本で最も多くの人が走るマラソンコースでもあります。

皇居は，明治天皇以降，今の天皇陛下までの歴代の天皇のおすまいです。 皇居内には，御所を始め，天皇陛下の御公務や諸儀式の場である宮殿，昭憲皇太后（明治天皇の皇后）以来の歴代の皇后が引き継いでいらっしゃる御養蚕のための施設である紅葉山御養蚕所，宮内庁庁舎などの建物があり，また，庭園として一般に公開されている皇居東御苑もあります。 The Imperial Palace has been the residence of successive emperors from Emperor Meiji to the current Emperor. Within the Imperial Palace grounds, there are various buildings such as the Imperial Residence, where the Emperor carries out official duties and ceremonies, and the Mulberry Silkworm Rearing Facility of Momijiyama, which has been passed down by successive empresses since Empress Dowager Shoken (Empress of Emperor Meiji) for sericulture. There are also buildings such as the Imperial Household Agency Office, and the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, which are open to the public as gardens.

東京都千代田区にある「皇居」は、天皇の平常時における宮殿・住居となっている場所です。皇居の広さは東京ドーム約25個分。周囲はぐるっと堀に囲まれていて、その横に整備された歩道はジョギングなどを楽しむランナーの聖地になっています。皇居内には天皇皇后両陛下の住居である御所や、諸行事を行う宮殿、宮内庁関係の庁舎などが点在。一般人の参観には諸条件があり、事前の申請が必要です。ぜひ立ち寄りたい場所ですが、内部を見学したい場合は事前に参観申し込みなどをしておくようにしましょう。

日本天皇平时居住的场所，可参观外部到二重桥部分，皇居内部参观需通过官网预约。The Imperial Palace is where the Japanese Emperor usually lives and can be visited from the outside to the Erqiao Bridge. It must be reserved through the official website before visiting.
