American bar for cocktails very expensive ( a long evenings drinking for two around £150 but comfortable and usually not crowded and never too noisy to hear your companion. Dress up a little. Ignore the cocktail menu and ask for what you want. Nice staff. Bar pianist. The Beaufort bar at the Savoy offers an extremely luxurious experience yet also a comfortable, friendly treat. The drinks are sublime but reasonably affordable. (Try the Embankment Gardens cocktail!)
