Privately owned castle still being lived in by the family. They produce their own wine so be sure to have enough time for a degustation as you leave. This castle is close to Bumblebee Manor with lovely restaurants nearby, especially l'Auberge des Isles which sits directly under the castle next to the river.

The Château de Montreuil-Bellay is a historical building in the town of Montreuil-Bellay, département of Maine-et-Loire, France, first built on the site of a Gallo-Roman village high on a hill on the banks of the Thouet River. It is listed as a monument historique by the French Ministry of Culture.

Our favorite place so far for picnicking. Pack a lunch, head up there and find a spot at the base of the chateau, near the lake, and enjoy the view!
