Boating and beer are a perfect mix. The Crate is a pub with a brewery attached, just by the bridge to the Olympic Park. It has a real buzz, a friendly atmosphere, and some of London’s finest craft pints. Someone’s realised that the best thing with beer is pizza, so it’s just a pizza menu, but the sage and truffle one, with the Crate IPA, is sublime. Before you go, check that there’s not a West Ham home game on at the Olympic stadium, because when there is, the fans come out in their football shirts and swamp what is usually a hipster pub and get really, really drunk on craft beer.
Lovely lazy Sundays, great pizzas, hip art crowd, Sunday afternoon DJ, on the canal. Friday and Saturday nights get busy. Great base camp from which to explore the funky restaurants, barge bars and clubs of Hackney Wick.
If you like a long walk along the canal, I would highly recommend you go from the flat to the Crate by walking along the canal. It is really relaxing and a nice walk, you pass through Victoria Park and arrive at the Crate where you can enjoy some local beers and really good Pizza!
“Number 90 Bar & Kitchen is a well-known and much-loved, canal-side venue in Hackney Wick, offering fantastic food made from locally sourced produce; an expansive drink menu – including an array of exciting cocktails and, as you might expect, a strong range of craft beers; art and music events; and phenomenal service. Aware that it is celebrated for its relaxed and welcoming vibe, Sated sauntered on down to this old favourite to try something a little different – an off-the-menu burger that was it was rumoured would bring us to our knees.”
“Here's another hidden gem. This one is right next to CRATE Brewery. It has more variety in terms of beers, and the space is slightly bigger if you're trying to find a table. In terms of food, there's a great BBQ joint in Howling Hops as well as some other snacks you can get. Definitely worth the visit!”
“Bar by the canal. You can find on their website several events - from Dj's to Live music”
“Laid back riverside cafe serving good, simple food. Popular with local artists. ”
