GRØD… could it possibly be more danish? Grød means porridge, but your taste for it will change after trying alternative ways of serving porridge loaded with yummy goodness. Great spot for breakfast

Even though, Copenhagen today is one of the most known foodie places in the world, we once used to be mainly an agricultural society where porridge was important! Grød have elevated the classic sweet and savory to an unprecedented level that we can only characterize as yum.

One of the latest food trends to gain foothold is porridge. And of course it's done nicely and delicate at Grød in Copenhagen. Grød - or porridge as it translates, has serveral very popular cafes around Copenhagen. And as the name rightly reveals, only porridge is on the menu. But forget about boring, sticky oatmeal. At Grød they get creative and creates dishes such as spelt porridge with chestnut purée, apple and toasted almonds. Or their signature: oat porridge with apples, dulce de leche caramel and toasted almonds. Cheap prices You don't have to bring the big bucks to Grød. Breakfast dishes are 45 DKK, a lunch or dinner porridge is around 70-90 DKK, while a dessert comes in at 40 DKK. The menu changes every month, but is updated on the café's facebook page. (In Danish) Grød was started by the two young friends Martin Daniali and Lasse Skjønning Andersen. They aim for an organic profile with seasonal produce. You can also buy take-away.

I have previously worked as an operations manager for GRØD, which translate to "porridge". And it's a must try!! They offer the best oat porridge (in my opinion :-)) with all sorts of toppings for breakfast or overnight chia pudding and acaí bowls too. There are several vegan options as well. Lunch and dinner menu includes "spoon-food" with inspiration from all over the world. Like Indian Daal, Asian Congee, Italian risotto and nordic inspired barley-otto. I recommend you to try the locations in Vesterbro, Nørrebro, Østerbro or Frederiksberg. Torvehallerne only have a tiny menu compared to the others and the vibe is not so cosy.
