If it’s Monday night or there’s a blizzard happening and you just want to see other humans, head to Employees Only. It’s always packed, no matter what, and there’s a tarot card reader when you walk in. The cocktails are beautiful, served in big glasses with gorgeous garnishes like candied ginger, pink peppercorns, and basil everywhere. Stay for the chicken soup. You read that right. At 3:30 am, they make chicken soup for the entire bar, and then they send you on your way. It’s an iconic hospitality move that’s only theirs. If you’ve been drinking for three, four hours, their chicken soup will make your hangover bearable.
Famous speakeasy for great cocktails, good selection of dinner options in addition to bar food
Classic 1950s era speakeasy. Come here for drinks. Easy to miss, entrance right on Hudson. Order one of the classics: Manhattan, Martini, Negroni. Exceptional bartenders.
Local favorite, have a psychic session before imbibing and after, you can drown all her prophecies with some delicious cocktails.
Probably one of the very best cocktail bars in the whole city and one of the original speakeasies, you will not be disappointed with a visit here. Also look for the logo tattooed on all the bartenders' wrists (yes, they take it that seriously).
“This Michelin-starred gastro pub is one of the best in the city, and is known for many amazing dishes. Burger-wise, the Chargrilled Burger with Roquefort is epically good - the ultra-thick beef patty is topped with the stinkiest, most delicious Roquefort cheese and comes with a mountain of shoestring fries. ”
“Under the 'Friend's' building, this is a cute little place serving amazing food. A must!”
“Underground den of mixology featuring a vast menu of handcrafted cocktails in a snug space.”
“Small intimate restaurant with great food in the heart of the West Village!”
“Italian restaurant with a slightly more upscale ambience. Classy and modern. Food is phenomenal. Please make reservations or you can walk-in but the wait might be long. ”
