Uncle Louie The Restaurant
A Hidden gem and well known to the locals. Not far and fantastic food and ambiance.
“In lovely Stagecoach Village. Great menu with interesting food and drinks. Under new ownership, have not been back since then. ”
“Because we have water in the desert! A huge lake full of fish if you desire to cast a rod out and test your luck and share your tales. You can rent boats at the marina for another fun filled activity. The drive to the lake is breathtaking and tummy tickling to say the least. When you crest the desert hills full of cactus and palo verde trees, the view of the lake is stunning. I recommend a drive out if nothing else. There is a small cafe/restaurant just before the marina and is a great stopping place for lunch. Watch your speed on the road in, it is lower than you think and the Ranger out there will remind you of that too with a certificate of speed merit. Go slow and enjoy the views. ”
“One of the 3 best PUBLIC golf courses within 20 minutes (less expensive). The others are Verde River and Dove Valey Ranch.”
“Straightforward shopping mall featuring well-known retailers plus restaurants & a movie theater. ”
“I highly recommend taking a drive down to the Verde River if you have are driving a truck or SUV. Needle Rock Recreation site is our favorite local spot. Beautiful photo opportunities, swimming, fishing, picnics. If using GPS on your phone, it might take you to the picnic site which is okay (has picnic tables, restrooms, but is not as close to the river), but the best spot is more rugged. Just stay on Service Road 20 until it turns to gravel and stay right to the large parking area near the river (you will see a pin on Google Maps for Verde River Rec Site). Weekdays are less crowded- weekends in the summer can get too congested. If adventurous and driving an SUV or Truck with decent ground clearance, you can try taking Dixileta Dr to Service Road 20. Just turn right out of our driveway and stay on the dirt road until you pass through the gate as you enter Tonto National Forest. Stay on road (very bumpy, large ruts, especially after storms) until you reach a very steep decline to the left which brings you to Service Road 20. Turn left and stay on road until you end up in the large gravel parking area on the righ, next to the river (about ¼ mile).”
