The Durie Hill Elevator celebrated it's 100th year recently. It is an absolute must see. Take the steps up and then make your way back down with the elevator. The views from up there are incredible and completely worth it. The cost is $2 per person per ride

The tunnel that leads to the elevator is truly instagramable! A must see. The view at the top of the Durie Hill Tower is fantastic.

Built in 1919, The Durie Hill Elevator is New Zealand’s only public transport elevator and is still used on a daily basis by locals and visitors. Access is through a long pedestrian tunnel. You’ll be welcomed aboard the elevator for the 66-metre ride to the top of the hill. The ride costs $2 (each way) for adults, $1 for children and eftpos is available. The elevator operates 8am-6pm weekdays, 10am-5pm weekends and public holidays and is open every day except Christmas day.

category 1 Heritage listed, connects Durie Hill to the city. Walk the 205m long tuneel, be sure to see how the echoes rebound, then use the public elevator to the Towers at the top for elevated and expansive views of our city.
