Wonderful family run chateau with excellent restaurants and things for kids to do.
The "Tintin Château", fully furnished (a bit too much for my liking) and lived in by the owners. There's a lot to see and do when in the grounds: see the hunting hounds being fed (a real show!), a Tintin exhibition, glide along the waterways in an electric boat .... On your way out why not try the…
Not as popular as the other chateaux which is why I like it. Has a TinTin museum and really, believe, it's cool! even for adults. Also has a moat with flat bottomed boats for short trips.
“Amazing chateau with stunning gardens. Many eateries are available serving excellent food in the most stunning surroundings. We had a very brief visit on the way from our second home to Calais. Could easily spend a day or even two here as there is so much to see and do. Walks, cycle rides, horse and bird of prey displays, vineyard to name but a few. Will definitely return with the children and stay nearby in our camper van so that we really can take in this wonderful place and all it has to offer.”
“One of the best zoos in France, possibly Europe. Be sure to see the Pandas and the Birds of Prey display - spectacular!”
“The chateau has the most stunning views over the Loire river, and its park hosts the annual International Festival of Gardens. From early May through mid- October, this unique festival brings more than thirty different landscape architects, designers and artists from around the world that are invited each year to display their creativity around a theme which changes every year. A great addition to the chateau’s beautiful surroundings, where Featured gardens are often strange or entertaining, sometimes futuristic or far-fetched. ”
“Le Château de Blois est un haut lieu de l'Histoire de France, en particulier au XVIème siècle. C'est aussi un ensemble qui donne une vision de l'architecture française sur une période allant du Moyen-Age au XVIIème siècle. Venez découvrir les secrets que renferment cette merveille !”
